The Trʉa Global Summit on Traditional Knowledge related to Biodiversity will bring together Government representatives, UN representatives and leaders of Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs), as key actors towards biodiversity conservation and climate change actions, to advance dialogue and consensus on the issues that will be addressed at COP 16 (October 21-November 1, Cali, Colombia).
The objective of the Global Summit on Traditional Knowledge associated with Biodiversity is to increase the visibility of traditional knowledge associated with biodiversity and the contributions of Indigenous Peoples and local communities to biodiversity conservation and climate action, to achieve the objectives of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) and the Paris Agreement. Especially to generate an informal dialogue between representatives of governments and Indigenous Peoples and local communities to contribute to consensus on the recommendations of the 12th Meeting of the Working Group on Article 8(j) of the Convention on Biological Diversity to be considered by COP16.
